Maps — the data it shows and where it comes from

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. The data is available under the
Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0: https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/
and https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright. Anyone can correct the map at
https://www.openstreetmap.org.

Offline maps (the regions the app downloads) are Produced Works of
OpenStreetMap data:
- vector tiles in the OpenMapTiles schema (https://openmaptiles.org,
  schema and style attribution CC-BY 4.0: "© OpenMapTiles"), made with
  Planetiler (Apache-2.0) from extracts of Geofabrik GmbH
  (https://download.geofabrik.de) and, for a few small islands, from the
  Overpass API (https://overpass-api.de); low zooms, coastlines and water
  from Natural Earth (public domain) and the OpenStreetMap Data water
  polygons (osmdata.openstreetmap.de, ODbL);
- US address ranges from TIGER/Line of the US Census Bureau (public
  domain), as preprocessed by the Nominatim project;
- the tree of regions and their borders from CoMaps
  (https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps, Apache License 2.0; see
  comaps-NOTICE.txt when present);
- the world overview from Natural Earth (public domain,
  https://www.naturalearthdata.com).

Online sources (used when the mode allows; every one a setting):
- tiles: OpenFreeMap (https://openfreemap.org), "OpenFreeMap © OpenMapTiles
  Data from OpenStreetMap";
- search: Photon by komoot (https://photon.komoot.io) and Nominatim of the
  OpenStreetMap Foundation (https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org),
  usage policy https://operations.osmfoundation.org/policies/nominatim/;
- routes: the FOSSGIS e.V. routing servers (https://routing.openstreetmap.de,
  OSRM).

The app sends to these services only what a request needs (the tile, the
words searched, the two ends of a route) and a User-Agent naming the app;
nothing about the user.
