eSpeak NG for Maps: the source, and how it was built

eSpeak NG is free software under the GNU General Public License,
version 3 or later (licences/GPL-3.0.txt). This package holds its
program, built from the release 1.52.0 without changes, and the English
part of its data. Its complete source is in this package:

share/source/espeak-ng-1.52.0.tar.gz the release, as published at
                                               https://github.com/espeak-ng/espeak-ng
share/source/build.sh how this package was built
share/source/netbsd-aarch64.cmake.in the CMake toolchain file used

How it was built (build.sh): the source is configured with CMake twice.
Once for the build machine (Debian 13, gcc), only to compile the
voice data (espeak-ng-data); once for NetBSD/aarch64 with the NetBSD
cross compiler of the lovely project's NetBSD build (build/tools,
the sysroot build/destdir), statically linked, with these options:

    -DUSE_ASYNC=OFF -DUSE_MBROLA=OFF -DUSE_LIBSONIC=OFF
    -DUSE_LIBPCAUDIO=OFF -DUSE_KLATT=ON -DUSE_SPEECHPLAYER=OFF
    -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=OFF

The data kept: phondata, phonindex, phontab, intonations, en_dict,
lang/gmw/en*, voices/ (the variants).

Maps runs bin/espeak-ng with "-v <voice> -s <speed> --stdout <text>"
and ESPEAK_DATA_PATH=/deps/espeak-ng/share; it plays the WAV the
program writes. Nothing else of Maps touches eSpeak NG.

The lovely project (the scripts): MIT-0, Copyright 2026 Paul Black.
