About Speech for Maps
eSpeak NG with its English voices, run by Maps as a program of its own to speak the directions while navigating.
eSpeak NG is GPL-3.0-or-later, so it is a package of its own and not part of Maps (MIT-0). Maps works without it (chimes only) and uses it when it is installed. The package carries its complete source and how it was built.
